General Information
The WPCOG was formed in 1968 and serves Alexander, Burke, Caldwell and Catawba Counties and the 24 municipalities within those counties. It is a voluntary association of local governments organized as a nonprofit group. It is not a government as it has no taxation, police power or condemnation authority. The WPCOG is recognized as a public authority by the state and as a political subdivision.
