NOTICE TO GENERAL REHABILITATION CONTRACTORS

The Western Piedmont Council of Governments (WPCOG) receives funding from the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA) for the Urgent Repair Program (URP), Energy Single Family Rehabilitation (ESFR) and Single Family Rehabilitation (SFR) to be used in Alexander, Burke, Caldwell and Catawba Counties. The WPCOG is presently soliciting General Rehabilitation Contractors for participation in the residential construction phase for these projects. The URP funding is allowed to spend up to $8,000 on a house; the ESFR funding is allowed to spend up to $25,000 on a house and the Single Family Rehabilitation Program is allowed to spend up to $45,000.


Participation in these programs requires proof of the following: Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Certification (Firm & Individual) under the Lead-Based Paint Hazard Management Program; Evidence of insurance coverage with Liability coverage of at least $300,000 for personal injury and $100,000 for property damage, and employees must be fully covered by Workmen's Compensation Insurance. Contractors must also agree to abide by Equal Opportunity Provisions and to perform work in accordance with applicable NC State Building Code Standards. References will be required concerning Contractor's financial status. Other references will be required from the Contractor's suppliers, subcontractors, banks and past work completed.
