Registration is now open to attend the Regional Housing Forum on Friday, August 27, 2021 (8:30 am to Noon). This event will feature speakers from area local governments about significant housing development that is planned or underway. In addition, the event will feature an expert speaker who will share how local communities can encourage the construction of more housing. 8:30am Welcome, Introduction, and Purpose – Anthony W. Starr, WPCOG Executive Director

8:40am What is happening with housing development in our region? Local government leaders will highlight some of the housing development occurring in our region.

Presenters: Sally Sandy, Morganton City Manager Warren Wood, Hickory City Manager Jacky Eubanks, Catawba County Planning Director Scott Hildebran, Lenoir City Manager Sherry Long, WPCOG Assistant Executive Director 9:30am Panel Discussion: What would you attribute to your success for recent development? What obstacles did you overcome or are still confronting?

10:00am Break

10:20am Chad Meadows, Founder and Principal with CodeWright Planners LLC, will present opportunities to change local codes to encourage the construction of more housing.

11:20am Wrap-up and Future Forum Topics – Anthony W. Starr

11:35pm Adjournment


The next Regional Housing Forum is scheduled for February or March 2022 and is intended to focus on affordable housing issues.
